Betrayal at Krondor patch
Updates: Versions 1.0 and 1.01 to Version 1.02
Released: October 7, 1993

INSTRUCTIONS
This patch will update versions 1.0 and 1.01 of "Betrayal at Krondor" to
version 1.02. If you are unsure what version you are currently using, refer
to the label on your game disks. If you are already using version 1.02,
there is no need to run the patch program.

To use this patch program, you must first make sure you have at least 12 Megs
(or 12288000 bytes) of non-compressed hard drive space available on the drive
where Betrayal at Krondor has been installed. If you are using a disk
compression utility such as DoubleSpace, Stacker, or SuperStor, then you will
need a minimum of 24 Megs (or 24576000 bytes) of free hard drive space. To
verify the amount of Space available, type: CHKDSK <ENTER> at your hard drive
prompt under MS-DOS and check the "bytes available on disk" value. Make sure
this value is equal to or greater than the values given above.

NOTE - The patch only requires the 12 Megs of uncompressed hard disk space
for updating Betrayal at Krondor--once the patch has been applied, you will
have a majority of this 12 Megs of disk space back.

If CHKDSK reports any errors found on the hard drive, then you will want to
correct these problems using the CHKDSK/F command or a hard drive maintanence
utility such as Norton Utilities or PC Tools. Attempting to apply this patch
with errors on the hard drive will result in improper installation. For more
information about correcting errors on the hard drive, please consult your
MS-DOS manual or your hard drive maintanence utility manual for more
information.

When you are sure you have enough hard drive space and there are no errors
found on the hard drive, then you can apply the patch. Simply copy all the
patch files into your Betrayal at Krondor directory on the hard drive. Next,
run the UPDATE utility by typing: UPDATE <ENTER>. While UPDATE is running,
please wait--the entire process will take about 15 to 20 minutes.
Interrupting UPDATE while it is working could result in improper installation.
When the computer is finished updating Betrayal at Krondor, it will delete
the patch files from your hard drive and display the message: "Update
Complete." Once this process is complete, you will be running the latest
version of Betrayal at Krondor.

CHANGES IN VERSION 1.02
The following patch will correct several extremely rare problems that have
been reported in previous versions of the program. It also serves to offer
minor enhancements to make game play a little more intuitive and/or easier.
Here is a list of the changes and corrections that this patch will address:

	- Players can now toggle between a "fixed" and a "rotating" overhead
map display by pressing the "n" key while viewing the overhead map.

	- A problem which could result in improper data saved within the
saved game files was fixed. (Version 1.0 ONLY.) Symptom: clicking
on houses and/or other objects in the world results in a message
where one party member tells another he's not sure what the object
is and that it must not be very important. To correct this problem,
you will have to run the patch program and start a new game in
Chapter One. You will not be able to use you current saved games.
Dynamix highly recommends that you delete all previously saved
games when attempting to correct this problem.

	- Extra rope was added to Chapter Five. It was possible for players
to reach Chapter Five and not be able to find any rope.

	- The "Final Rest" lockup has been fixed. Casting the "Final Rest"
spell on a Black Slayer could cause the game to "hang" if there was
a dead body in the same combat cell.

	- More supplies have been added at the beginning of Chapter Nine.

	- Ability to get past the magical trap in Chapter Six. There were
occasional problems getting past this trap.

	- Under unusual circumstances, a very powerful sword (available only
in Chapter Six) could add to an opponent's HEALTH/STAMINA rather
than take points away. This problem has been corrected.

	- Another clue was added in Chapter Three.

	- Armorcraft and weapons skills now increase at a quicker rate.

	- Items placed in moredhel lock chests can no longer be "stolen".
