SECTION 2 - INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

DOS
Insert Disk 1 and switch to the floppy disk prompt by typing A: or B:. If
you are playing the CD version, insert the CD and switch to the CD drive
by typing the drive letter followed by a colon. Ex: D:. Then type
INSTALL to begin the installation program. Follow the on-screen
prompts to complete the installation.

WINDOWS 95
Insert the CD into the appropriate drive and wait for the Windows 95 to
prompt you for the installation. If you have Windows 95's Autoplay
disabled, click on Start, then Run. In the Open field, type the letter of
the drive followed by \SETUP. Example: D:\SETUP. Follow the on-
screen prompts to complete the installation.

SECTION 3 - COMMON INSTALLATION PROBLEMS

PROBLEM: After typing INSTALL, a row of dots goes across the screen
and stops. The computer is locked up with this row of dots appearing on
the screen.
SOLUTION: The dots indicate the hardware detection portion of the
installation program. You can bypass the hardware detection (and
therefore the lockup) by typing INSTALL /M. If this entry doesn't work,
try INSTALL /F. One of these entries should get you past the lockup. If
this does not work, create a boot disk using the appropriate instructions in
Sections 7 or 8. After booting up with the boot disk, install the game.

SECTION 4 - COMMON GAME PROBLEMS

PROBLEM: You get an "insufficient memory" message when attempting to
run the game.
SOLUTION: Because of the game's graphics display, Football 95 requires
high amounts of conventional and expanded memory (EMS). You will
need to create a boot disk and run the game under a boot disk
environment. To create a boot disk, you can use the boot disk instructions
attached to this document or rerun the INSTALL program and choose
"Make Bootable Floppy" from the Installation Options menu.

PLEASE NOTE: Football 95 cannot be played through Windows 3.1.
Playing this game from Windows 3.1 will cause error messages, system
lockups and possible file corruption. So please, play the game in DOS.

If you are playing Football '95 in Windows 95, make a boot disk using
the instructions in Section 8 and run the game in MS-DOS mode.

PROBLEM: Game locks up at the beginning of the game when introduction
is about to be played. The helmet and logo will display and the game will
lock up.
SOLUTION: This problem is usually caused by sound card conflict. Run
SOUNDSET in the game directory and choose "No digital sound". Run
the game again. If the lock up does not occur, the problem lies with the
sound card configuration. Please see Section 5 for information on sound
card configuration in DOS.

If you are playing Football '95 in DOS, this problem may also be caused
by out-dated or incompatible CD-ROM drivers. Make sure that you are
using MSCDEX version 2.23.  This driver comes standard with DOS 6.2;
you will find it in your C:\DOS directory. You should also check with
your CD ROM drive manufacturer to make sure that you have the latest
version of their drivers in your CONFIG.SYS. You can also bypass the
introduction (and the lockup) by pressing the space bar when you see the
Sierra logo. This will take you directly into the game.

PROBLEM: When you type HIKE to start the game, you get a message
saying "Hey! Please don't play the game on the network."
SOLUTION: This is caused by typing HIKE at the CD prompt instead of at
the C:\SIERRA\FBPRO95 prompt. Typing the command at the
C:\SIERRA\FBPRO95 prompt will eliminate the error.

PROBLEM: Blank screen in the Play Editor. You may hear music, but will
see only a black screen.
SOLUTION: The Play Editor screen displays in a video resolution of
640x350x16 colors. Some video cards do not support this resolution. If a
game is displaying in this video mode, you will see only a black screen;
you may hear the game continuing (music, voices, etc.) but you will not
see anything.

Most of the video cards with this problem have the ET4000 chip set (rev.
A), often with STB video cards. STB has a fix for this situation. The fix
file is called OK.COM and is available for download off of the STB BBS
or you can request it from their Technical Support Department. You can
reach STB Technical Support at the following numbers: 214-234-8750
Main, 214-234-1306 FAX, 214-437-9615 BBS, Compuserve ID: GO
STBSYS.

You can also download the patch STBVID.EXE from the Sierra BBS at
(206) 644-0112. This self-extracting file contains the OK.COM file.

If you are experiencing this problem with a video card that does not have
the STB BIOS, you should contact your video card manufacturer and ask
if your card supports the 640x350x16 color resolution. They may be able
to provide you with a video BIOS update to support this resolution.

PROBLEM: You get a "palette.cpp:27" error and the game locks up.
SOLUTION: This is usually due to corrupted program files or a bad
installation of the game. To correct this, delete the game and run
CHKDSK /F or SCANDISK to detect and correct any hard drive errors.
Then, check to make sure that you have enough hard drive space to install
the program. (See Section 1 - Hardware Requirements for the disk space
requirements.) Remember, that if you are using disk compression (Stacker
or DoubleSpace, for example), you should double the amount of disk
space you think you are going to need. These steps should correct the
problem.

PROBLEM: You get a "SIMSEED()=1" error message when trying to
simulate or play a game.
SOLUTION: If there is not a valid game plan chosen for a team, the game
will give this error. Game plans can be invalid because the plays are not
on the hard drive, or if the name typed in the Game Plan dialog box does
not exist. Verify the existence and the validity of the game plan name or
try using a different one.

This error can also occur if you have updated to version 1.02 using the
patch, and haven't updated your game plans or coaching profiles in
directories other than C:\SIERRA\FBPRO95. To update this files you
need to run the following command:

FPSUPDAT SYNC <PATH TO YOUR GAME PLANS DIRECTORY>

Please note that if you have coaching profiles with saved game plans, you
will need to save BOTH the game plan and the coaching profile separately
as a different filename, then run FPSUPDATE SYNC. FPSUPDAT will
not update the game plan that is saved within a coaching profile. You will
continue to get the SIMSEED error if you do not update the files
separately.

PROBLEM: No game highlights.
SOLUTION: League files must be in \SIERRA\FBPRO95 subdirectory.
Leagues files placed in any other directory or subdirectory will not
generate game highlights.

PROBLEM: You can't access the extra plays from the CD.
SOLUTION: This is corrected in the Football 95 patch disk. See Section 7
- Obtaining a Sierra Patch Disk for information on how to get the patch.
You can also copy the extra plays to the hard drive and run them from
there. To copy the plays to the hard drive, type the following at the CD
prompt:

XCOPY D:\FBPRO95\EXTRA\*.* /S C:\SIERRA\FBPRO95\EXTRA
(Replace D: and C: with the respective drive letters of the CD ROM and
Hard Drive)

Then remove the files' read-only attributes by typing the following at the
C:\SIERRA\FBPRO95\EXTRA prompt:

ATTRIB -R *.*

Remember, if you install the patch disk, you can read the plays directly
from the CD and do not need to copy them to the hard drive.

PROBLEM: Random lockups.
SOLUTION: Lockups can be caused by a number of factors. If you are
getting lockups during the game, try the following:

1. Make a boot disk. If you are not playing the game in Windows 95, you
can use the automatic boot disk creator by running INSTALL in the
C:\SIERRA\FBPRO95. If you're playing in Windows 95, use the boot
disk instruction in Section 8. The boot disk will eliminate any possible
memory conflicts that could be causing lockups. Be very careful that your
sound card drivers are loaded onto the boot disk!

2. Check the sound card configuration. Run the SOUNDSET program in
the C:\SIERRA\FBPRO95 directory and choose "No Digital Sound
Driver". Then run the game. If the game does not lock up, then the
problem is probably in the sound card configuration. Re-run
SOUNDSET and manually choose your sound card and its settings.
Occasionally, the auto-detect feature of SOUNDSET will detect your
sound card incorrectly and this can cause the game to lock up.

3. Disable the mouse driver. Create a boot disk that does not load the
mouse driver, then run the game. If the lockup goes away, then you
probably have an incompatible or outdated mouse driver. Sierra
recommends Microsoft's mouse driver 8.2 or higher or Logitech's mouse
driver 6.23 or higher. Changing the mouse driver may help prevent the
lockup.

4. Check for corrupted files. In DOS 5.0 run CHKDSK /F, in Windows
95 or DOS 6.0 or higher, use SCANDISK to detect and correct any hard
drive errors. If you find any, fix them, then delete and reinstall the game.
Errors on the hard drive can corrupt files and this can cause lockups.

PROBLEM: The joystick won't calibrate or loses calibration during the
game.
SOLUTION: First, delete the JOY.CFG file in the C:\SIERRA\FBPRO95
directory. If you have a joystick calibration program from the joystick
manufacturer, run it and calibrate your joystick in DOS, using that
program. Then, go back into Football 95 and calibrate the joystick
within the game. This usually corrects the problem.

If the above steps don't help, the problem may stem from the fact that
your joystick port cannot keep up with polling requests from the game. If
you have a 386, 486 or a Pentium computer and you are using a generic
game card or the built-in joystick port, the card/port may not be able to
handle the combination of the speed of the machine and the rate of the
joystick polling requests that the Dynamix programs use. Polling the
joystick port at a high rate insures the smoothest possible joystick control.

Sierra and most major joystick manufacturers recommend a dedicated
joystick card that can be calibrated to the speed of your computer. CH
Products, Thrustmaster and Gravis all make excellent speed-adjustable
joystick cards. You can find these cards at your local software or
hardware dealer. Dedicated joystick cards are relatively inexpensive
($20-$40) and will usually solve this kind of problem.

If you use a dedicated joystick card already, you should make sure that all
other joystick ports are disabled. Other joystick ports can be found on
your sound card, game port or multi-I/O card. Check your hardware
documentation for more information on disabling joystick ports.

PROBLEM: The mouse cursor behaves erratically. This often occurs in the
Play Editor screen, but may happen in other parts of the game.
SOLUTION: This is often caused by a conflict with the joystick. Unplugging
the joystick, then plugging it back in can cause this problem. To fix it,
delete the JOY.CFG file in the C:\SIERRA\FBPRO95 directory. If you
have a joystick calibration program from the joystick manufacturer, run it
and calibrate your joystick in DOS, using that program. Then, go back
into Football 95 and calibrate the joystick within the game. This usually
corrects the problem.

Erratic mouse behavior can also be caused by low conventional memory.
If the above steps don't help, create a boot disk using the instructions at
the end of this document and run the game under the boot disk
environment.

PROBLEM: No crowds in the stands.
SOLUTION: This is corrected with the Football 95 patch. Please see
Section 9 - Obtaining a Sierra Patch Disk for information on getting the
patch.

PROBLEM: You can't change the players' positions.
SOLUTION: This is corrected with the Football 95 patch. Please see
Section 9 - Obtaining a Sierra Patch Disk for information on getting the
patch.

PROBLEM: Slow game play.
SOLUTION: The graphics in Football 95 require more computer resources
than in earlier Football games. Therefore, slow game play can usually be
corrected by decreasing the detail level. Change the field from grass to
turf. You can also turn off the shadows and the end-zone graphics to help
the game move faster. You should also run the game with a boot disk to
make as much memory available to the game as possible.

SECTION 5 - SOUND ISSUES

In DOS, the best sound card settings for a SoundBlaster compatible card
are I/O 220, DMA 1 and IRQ 5 or 7. If you're using a Pro Audio card,
the best settings are I/O 220, DMA 3 and IRQ 5 for the Pro Audio portion
of the card, set the SoundBlaster portion of the card to DMA 1 and IRQ
7. Make sure that the Soundblaster and ProAudio portions do not share
the same DMA! Settings outside these parameters can cause lockups
and/or choppy, repeating or garbled speech. Most sound cards have test
utilities that will tell you what settings you are using. Check your sound
card documentation for more information.

Front Page Sports: Football 95 supports a variety of different sound
cards. The game's sound and music configuration is set up through a
program called SOUNDSET in the C:\SIERRA\FBPRO95 directory. The
SOUNDSET program is run automatically when you first install the
game, but you can run it again at any time to change the sound card
configuration. If you are having any kind of sound problems during the
game, Sierra recommends that you run the SOUNDSET program and
choose your sound card and settings manually instead of letting the
program auto-detect them. The auto-detect program occasionally detects
the sound card incorrectly and this can cause problems within the game.

PROBLEM: No sound through the PC speaker.
SOLUTION: The music and sound effects in Football 95 are too
complicated for the PC speaker to produce. Therefore, there will be no
sound through the PC speaker if you do not have a sound card. The game
should run fine without a sound card, just silently.

PROBLEM: Lockups or no sound while using a MAD16 sound card with
SoundBlaster emulation.
SOLUTION: Add a "SET MAD16=C:\MAD16" line to the
AUTOEXEC.BAT file on the boot disk. Run "M16INIT" from the
C:\MAD16 directory and select Windows Sound System Emulation at the
default settings (i.e. DMA 1, IRQ 7, PORT 530). Reboot the computer
using the boot disk. Run SOUNDSET in the C:\SIERRA\FBPRO95
directory and choose Microsoft Sound System for the sound driver (DMA
1, PORT 530, IRQ will be blank). Save the settings and start the game.

PROBLEM: Lockups or no sound while using an Ensoniq sound card.
SOLUTION: These problems have been corrected in the latest version of
Ensoniq's sound card drivers. Please contact Ensoniq for complete
information on obtaining these drivers.

PROBLEM: No sound in the game after booting up with a boot disk. This
often occurs with the SoundBlaster 16, but occasionally happens with
other sound cards.
SOLUTION: This happens when sound drivers or configuration lines get left
off the boot disk. The following lines are for the SoundBlaster 16 and
should be in your AUTOEXEC.BAT in this order:

SET SOUND=C:\SB16
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H1 P300 T6
C:\SB16\SB16SET (followed by your mixer settings--copy them from
your hard drive AUTOEXEC.BAT)
C:\SB16\DIAGNOSE /S
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E

Adding these lines to the AUTOEXEC.BAT on the boot disk should give
you sound. If you have a sound card other than the SoundBlaster 16,
check your documentation for information on what lines need to be in the
AUTOEXEC.BAT on the boot disk.

PROBLEM: Distorted sound when running Football '95 under Windows 95.
SOLUTION: Restart your computer and play the game in MS-DOS mode.
You may need a boot disk to free up enough conventional memory.
Instructions for a Windows 95 boot disk are in Section 8.

SECTION 6 - GAME PLAY TIPS

Technical Support has limited information on Football 95 strategy and
game-play hints. This section contains answers to some frequently-asked
questions. For additional game-play information, Sierra recommends the
Football 95 manual and on-line forums that address sports simulations.
CompuServe and America On-Line have active forums where you can
obtain valuable information from your fellow football fans!

In addition, there is a good tutorial on page 19 of the manual. However,
there are three plays that the program asks you to load that are not
included with version 1.0 of FBPRO. Instead of trying to load the
HBLEADER substitute it with F3WRLR. You can use the 34ZONMED
when it asks you to select 3-4BNCKL. The ISHORT will work in place of
the SLICE2RT pass play. If you have installed the patch, then the
tutorial plays will appear as shown in the manual.

	5. You can now press on any one of the buttons marked 1-0 and
it will program that number of the keyboard to switch
to this angle. Page 77 in your manual explains this in detail.

Question: I want to backup my league files but I don't know which ones
to back up.
Answer: There are seven files created for each league you make. The
prefix of the file names will be the name that you gave the league with the
following file extensions:
     -DAT
     -PYR
     -LGE
     -PYF
     -TRN
     -IDX
     -RST

Just copy these files to another location.

Question: I can snap the ball but after I do this the computer takes
control of the game. What can I do?
Answer: The computer only takes over if you are in the Basic action
mode. You should set the game to either Advanced or Standard mode.
You can make the change by pressing F1 while on the playing field.

Question: How come when I go to call a play it only says "Run Right",
"Pass Middle", etc? Why can't I see where my receivers are going?
Answer: You are in the Basic play calling mode. You need to select
Standard play calling mode to see the plays. You can make the change by
pressing F1 while on the playing field.

Question: I want to know how many first downs I have so far, but I am
only 1 minute into the second quarter of the game. Can I see these or do I
have to wait until halftime?
Answer: You can view your stats at anytime during the game by pressing
the F2 button while on the playing field.

Question: Another team has offered me three different people for one of
my players, I want all three but I am only allowed to select one of these
offers.
Answer: You can only make one for one trades in Football 95. You will
want to select wisely when this occurs.

Question: I have created my own play. What do I do now?
Answer: You can implement your play into a game plan by going into
the play editor and:
	1. Select plan/profile.
	2. Load game plan.
	3. Edit game plan.
	4. Load your play into the view window.
	5. Select the spot where you want your play to be located.
	6. Right click on this spot to clear the space.
	7. Left click on this empty space to insert your play.
	8. When saving this game plan, be sure to rename it so you do not
erase the original game plan.

Question: How can I import my stock plays from FBPro to FBPro95?
Answer: You can't import the stock plays to FBPro95 as they are. You
need to enter the play editor in FBPro and load the stock play that you
want to transfer to FBPro95. Once you have it loaded, click on the save
button and retitle the play. You now have this play saved as a custom play
and it can be imported into FBPro95.

Question: I am in the roster screen and cannot change the depth slot of
my player. How can I do this?
Answer: You need to turn to the position rosters instead of the full
offense or defense roster. Once you have turned to the specified position
roster then you can move the players depth.
Whenever you make changes to a play, plan or profile, make sure that you
rename the file after you have made the changes. If you save the changes
and do not retitle it, then you have lost the original format of the item you
changed. The only way to restore this is to reinstall the game.

SECTION 7 - DOS BOOT DISK INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please read the entire instructions prior to
starting at Step 1. If you are playing the floppy disk version of Football
'95, you can skip Steps 3 and 4.

STEP 1
FORMATTING THE DISK
To make a boot disk, you must system format a high density diskette in
the A: drive. This procedure will transfer the "system files" to the disk and
allow the computer to boot up correctly.  The disk must be in the A: drive;
the computer will not boot from the B: drive. At a DOS prompt, type the
FORMAT command as follows:

FORMAT A: /S <ENTER>

If you get a "Bad command or file name" error message, type:

PATH=C:\DOS <ENTER>

Then retype the FORMAT command above. If you receive the error
again, the MS-DOS FORMAT command may not be on your system, or
it may have been renamed. Programs such as PC Tools and Norton Disk
Utilities sometimes rename the FORMAT command to prevent accidental
loss of data. If you are using a program of this type, check your
documentation to find out how to format a SYSTEM DISK, then proceed
to Step 2.

STEP 2
LOCATING THE MOUSE DRIVER
If you want to use a mouse with Football '95, a Microsoft compatible
mouse driver must be loaded into memory with the boot disk. There are
two kinds of mouse drivers available: those that load in the CONFIG.SYS
file and those that load in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. CONFIG.SYS
mouse drivers have an extension of .SYS (MOUSE.SYS) and
AUTOEXEC.BAT drivers have either a .COM or .EXE extension
(MOUSE.COM, MOUSE.EXE). You must load at least one of these
drivers, but it is not necessary to load them all.

If you do not know where the mouse drivers are located on your system,
the command below should help you locate them. Type the following at
the C:\ prompt:

DIR MOUSE* /S <ENTER>

This command will cause the system to search all subdirectories for a file
called MOUSE. If the system locates a MOUSE file, it will display the
path where the file is located. For example, if the MOUSE.COM file is
located in a C:\MOUSE directory, the system will display:

Directory of C:\MOUSE
	MOUSE.SYS 55160 03-10-92	3:10a
	MOUSE.COM 56408	03-10-03	6:00a

If this procedure does not locate a MOUSE file, your mouse driver may
have a different name; some common names for mouse drivers are
IMOUSE, GMOUSE and HPMOUSE. Your should check your mouse
documentation for the exact file names and how to install them.

Once you have located the mouse driver, you must copy it to the boot
disk. The following example assumes that the mouse drivers are located
in the C:\MOUSE directory as shown above. To copy the MOUSE files
to the boot disk, type:

COPY C:\MOUSE\MOUSE.* A: <ENTER>

Substitute the appropriate path and file names for your mouse drivers in
the command above. After you press ENTER, you should see a message
indicating that some files were copied.

STEP 3
LOCATING THE CD ROM DEVICE DRIVER (skip if not playing
the CD version of Football '95)
The CD ROM drive requires a device driver loaded in the CONFIG.SYS
file. This driver must be loaded correctly or you will be unable to access
your CD ROM drive. To make sure that the device driver loads correctly
on the boot disk, look at the CONFIG.SYS on the hard drive and copy the
driver line from there. To display the CONFIG.SYS, type the following
at a DOS prompt:

CD\ <ENTER>
EDIT CONFIG.SYS <ENTER>

The CONFIG.SYS file will display on the screen. Look for the line that
loads the CD ROM device driver. The line should look something like
this:

DEVICE=C:\DRV\CDROMDRV.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:220
DEVICEHIGH=C:\DRV\CDROMDRV.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:220
DEVICEHIGH /L:14652 =C:\DRV\CDROMDRV.SYS
/D:MSCD001 /P:220

The device driver in your CONFIG.SYS may differ slightly from those
listed above. Carefully write down the line for use in your boot disk.

To exit the CONFIG.SYS, press the <ALT>, <F>, then <X> keys.

If you have a SCSI CD ROM drive, there may be an additional driver in
your CONFIG.SYS that must be loaded for the CD ROM device drivers
to load correctly. Check your CD drive documentation for more
information.

NOTE: If you cannot locate the driver in your CONFIG.SYS file, check
your CD-ROM drive documentation, or contact the drive's manufacturer.

STEP 4
LOCATING THE MSCDEX CD ROM EXTENSION (skip if not
playing the CD version of Football '95)
In addition to the CD ROM device driver in the CONFIG.SYS, your CD
ROM drive requires MSCDEX, the Microsoft extension for CD ROM
drives. If this extension is not loaded correctly in the AUTOEXEC.BAT,
you will be unable to access your CD ROM drive. To display the
AUTOEXEC.BAT, type the following at a DOS prompt:

CD\ <ENTER>
EDIT AUTOEXEC.BAT <ENTER>

The AUTOEXEC.BAT file will display on the screen. Look for the line
that loads MSCDEX. It should look something like this:

C:\DOS\MSCDEX /D:MSCD001
LH C:\DOS\MSCDEX /D:MSCD001
LOADHIGH /L:14429 C:\DOS\MSCDEX /D:MSCD001

The MSCDEX line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT may differ slightly from
the ones above. Carefully write down the line for use in your boot disk.

To exit the AUTOEXEC.BAT, press the <ALT>, <F>, then <X> keys.

STEP 5
LOCATING THE SOUND CARD DRIVERS
Many sound cards have drivers or initialization lines that must be loaded
in the AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS. Some sound cards that
require these drivers or initialization routines are the SoundBlaster 16,
MAD16 and the Aria 16.

At the end of this document, you will find a section labeled "Sound
Cards". These tables contain the sound card lines for many common
sound cards. Check to see if your sound card is on the list. If it is, you
will need to add the appropriate lines to the AUTOEXEC.BAT and/or
CONFIG.SYS on your boot disk. If your sound card is not listed, you
should check your documentation for information on what needs to load in
the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS.

STEP 6
CREATING THE CONFIG.SYS FILE
To create the CONFIG.SYS file on the boot disk, type the following at a
DOS prompt:

A: <ENTER>
CD\ <ENTER>
EDIT CONFIG.SYS <ENTER>

This will display the blank (usually blue) screen of the DOS Editor. Enter
the following lines:

DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
DOS=HIGH,UMB
FILES=30
BUFFERS=20

If you're using MOUSE.SYS to load your mouse, add the following line:

DEVICEHIGH=A:\MOUSE.SYS

If necessary, add the CD ROM device driver as you wrote it down in the
"Locating the CD ROM Device Driver" section:

DEVICEHIGH=C:\DRV\CDROMDRV.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:220

If you need to load any sound card drivers, copy them from the "Sound
Cards" section now. The following example lines are for the
SoundBlaster 16:

DEVICEHIGH=C:\SB16\DRV\CTSB16.SYS /UNIT=0
/BLASTER=A:220 I:5 D:1 H:5
DEVICEHIGH=C:\SB16\DRV\CTMMSYS.SYS

Save the file by pressing <ALT>, <F>, then <S>. Exit the file by
pressing <ALT>, <F>, then <X>.

STEP 7
CREATING THE AUTOEXEC.BAT FILE
To create the AUTOEXEC.BAT file on the boot disk, type the following
at a DOS prompt:

A: <ENTER>
CD\ <ENTER>
EDIT AUTOEXEC.BAT <ENTER>

This will display the blank (usually blue) screen of the DOS Editor. Enter
the following lines:

@ECHO OFF
C:\
SET COMSPEC=C:\COMMAND.COM
PROMPT SIERRA BOOT DISK $_$P$G
PATH=C:\;C:\DOS;C:\SIERRA

If you are using the MOUSE.COM or MOUSE.EXE file to load your
mouse, add the appropriate line:

LH A:\MOUSE.COM

If necessary, add the MSCDEX line as you write it down in the "Locating
the MSCDEX CD ROM Extension" section. For example:

LH C:\DOS\MSCDEX /D:MSCD001

If you need to run any sound card initialization programs or load any
drivers, copy them from the "Sound Cards" section now. The following
example lines are for the SoundBlaster 16:

SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 T6
SET SOUND=C:\SB16
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E
C:\SB16\SB16SET /M:220 /VOC:220 /CD:220 /MIDI:220 /LINE:220
C:\SB16\DIAGNOSE /S

Save the file by pressing <ALT>, <F>, then <S>. Exit the file by
pressing <ALT>, <F>, then <X>.

STEP 8
REBOOT THE COMPUTER AND START THE GAME
Reboot your system by pressing the <RESET> button on your computer
or by using the <CTRL> <ALT> <DELETE> key sequence on your
keyboard. Follow the instructions in the game manual to start the game.

SECTION 8 - BOOT DISK INSTRUCTIONS FOR
WINDOWS 95

STEP 1
FORMATTING THE DISK
To make a boot disk, you must system format a high density diskette in
the A: drive. This procedure will transfer the "system files" to the disk and
allow the computer to boot up correctly.  The disk must be in the A: drive;
the computer will not boot from the B: drive.

To format a disk in Windows 95, put the disk in the drive, open My
Computer, then right click on the A: icon. From the pop-up menu, select
Format. Under "Format type" select Full; under "Other options", choose
Copy system files. Click on Start.

After the disk is formatted, you must copy the MSDOS.SYS file from the
hard drive to the floppy disk. To do this, leave the floppy disk in the
drive, open Windows Explorer and find the MSDOS.SYS file in the root
of the C: drive. Right click on the file, then select Send to from the pop-
up menu. Send the file to the A: drive.

NOTE: If you don't see the MSDOS.SYS file in Explorer, the file is
hidden. To make the file visible, select View, Options, then Show all
files. If you do not wish the hidden files to remain visible, you can hide
them again after you've made the boot disk by choosing View, Options,
Hide files of this type.

STEP 2
LOCATING THE CD ROM DEVICE DRIVER
The CD ROM drive may require a device driver loaded in the
CONFIG.SYS file. Look at the CONFIG.SYS on your hard drive to
determine if you need to load a CD ROM driver on the boot disk. To
display the CONFIG.SYS, click on the Start button, then choose Run. In
the Open line, type SYSEDIT, then click on OK. The SYSEDIT
window will appear. Click on the CONFIG.SYS title bar to display the
CONFIG.SYS file. Look for a line that loads a CD ROM device driver.
The line will look something like this:

DEVICE=C:\DRV\CDROMDRV.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:220
DEVICEHIGH=C:\DRV\CDROMDRV.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:220
DEVICEHIGH /L:14652 =C:\DRV\CDROMDRV.SYS
/D:MSCD001 /P:220

The device driver in your CONFIG.SYS may differ slightly from those
listed above. Carefully write down the line for use in your boot disk. If
you do not see a CD ROM driver line, then Windows 95 supports your
CD drive directly and it is not necessary to add a CD driver line to your
boot disk.

NOTE: Native support of CD ROM drives is only available when booting
to Windows 95. When you boot to DOS mode, you will need to load a CD
ROM driver in the CONFIG.SYS. Check your CONFIG.SYS on your
hard drive for the appropriate driver. If you do not see a driver in the
CONFIG.SYS file, check the CONFIG.DOS file. If you still cannot locate
the correct driver, contact the CD ROM drive manufacturer or consult
your documentation.

STEP 3
LOCATING THE MSCDEX CD ROM EXTENSION (May be
optional - see note below.)
NOTE: The MSCDEX line is necessary when running games in DOS
mode, or when your CD ROM drive is not supported directly by Windows
95.

In addition to the CD ROM device driver in the CONFIG.SYS, your CD
ROM drive requires MSCDEX, the Microsoft extension for CD ROM
drives. To make sure that MSCDEX loads correctly on the boot disk, use
SYSEDIT to look at the AUTOEXEC.BAT on your C: drive and copy the
MSCDEX line from there. It should look

something like this:

C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX /D:MSCD001
LH C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX /D:MSCD001
LOADHIGH /L:14429 C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX
/D:MSCD001

The MSCDEX line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT may differ slightly from
the ones above. Carefully write down the line for use in your boot disk.

If you cannot find the MSCDEX line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, then
most likely you do not need to load it to access your CD ROM drive in
Windows 95. Skip this step and continue to Step 4.

STEP 4
CREATING THE CONFIG.SYS FILE
To create the CONFIG.SYS file on the boot disk, choose Start, Run, then
type NOTEPAD A:\CONFIG.SYS in the command line field. This will
start the Windows Notepad program. In the new Notepad screen, enter the
following lines:

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE RAM 2800
DOS=HIGH,UMB
FILES=30
BUFFERS=20

If you're booting to DOS mode and are using MOUSE.SYS to load your
mouse, add the following line:

DEVICEHIGH=A:\MOUSE.SYS

If you need to load a CD ROM device driver, add the line from "Locating
the CD ROM Device Driver" section. The device driver should look
something like this:

DEVICEHIGH=C:\DRV\CDROMDRV.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:220

If you need to load any sound card drivers, copy them from the "Sound
Cards" section now. The following example lines are for the
SoundBlaster 16:

DEVICEHIGH=C:\SB16\DRV\CTSB16.SYS /UNIT=0
/BLASTER=A:220 I:5 D:1 H:5
DEVICEHIGH=C:\SB16\DRV\CTMMSYS.SYS

Save the file by clicking on File, Save. Close Notepad by clicking on
File, Exit.

STEP 5
CREATING THE AUTOEXEC.BAT FILE
To create the AUTOEXEC.BAT file on the boot disk, choose Start, Run,
then type NOTEPAD A:\AUTOEXEC.BAT in the command line field.
This will start the Windows Notepad program. In the new Notepad

screen, enter the following lines:

@ECHO OFF
C:\
SET COMSPEC=C:\COMMAND.COM
PROMPT SIERRA BOOT DISK $_$P$G
PATH=C:\;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\DOS

If your CD ROM drive requires the MSCDEX CD-ROM extension, add
the line loading MSCDEX that you wrote down in Step 3.

Save the file by clicking on File, Save. Close Notepad by clicking on
File, Exit.

STEP 6
REBOOT THE COMPUTER AND RUN THE GAME
Leave the disk in the drive and restart the computer by clicking on Start,
Shut Down., then Restart the computer or Restart the computer in
MS-DOS mode. The computer will now re-boot with the boot disk. When
your computer restarts, start the game.

show highlights.
Allows the extra plays to be read directly from the CD.
Corrects the way that the passer rating is calculated.
Corrects the problem where the referee would sometimes point in the
wrong direction to denote a first down.
Correct the problem where a field gold try of 94 yards or more would
force you to exit the game.
Corrects the problem where the computer would substitute fatigued
players, even when "Computer subs for fatigue" was not selected ont
he game settings screen.
Allows you to run BAKLEG.BAT to backup a league to a specific
directory.
